Online Therapy in Ottawa, ON
As an entirely virtual practice, Link Counselling & Psychotherapy provides online therapy to a range of adult clients (18 – 60) throughout Canada. Online counselling remains as effective as in-person therapy, thereby reducing the stress and anxiety often associated with in-person meetings and long or inconvenient commutes.
Support That Meets You Where You Are
Who I Work With
My practice specializes in a variety of mental health concerns, but some of the common issues I treat are:
Stress
Anxiety (including social anxiety)
Depression
Life transitions
Career counselling
Participating in therapy online helps accommodate busy schedules and logistical barriers—like a commute. Through this process, you get the chance to receive effective, individualised support from the comfort of your own home.

But Does Online Therapy Actually Work?
Long before the COVID-19 pandemic began, researchers spent years studying the efficacy of teletherapy and online counselling. What they found was that, for the most part, treatment conducted online had just as high a success rate as in-person interventions. And in fact, online therapy is safer in some instances, including for clients who are immunocompromised or suffer from social anxiety.
The Benefits Of Working With A Therapist Online
For many of the clients I work with, seeing a therapist online gives them an opportunity to receive effective, compassionate mental and emotional support on their terms. By removing many of the barriers that prevent individuals from seeking therapy in the first place, online counselling is a good option for clients, in particular, who:
Are busy and cannot make time for weekly in-person appointments
Live in remote areas, which are particularly common throughout Canada
Have limited mobility and/or access to transportation
Struggle with certain phobias or social anxiety that prevent them from leaving familiar environments comfortably
Prefer to meet with a therapist from the comfort of their own home
Over time, more and more insurance providers have included online counselling in their coverage, further solidifying teletherapy as the newest evolution in mental health support and treatment.
What To Expect For Online Sessions Through My Practice
At Link Counselling & Psychotherapy, all online sessions are conducted via a secure, PHIPA-compliant video platform that you can access from anywhere with an internet connection. Confidential, accessible support is of the utmost importance here, and I am trained to address technical issues and other obstacles encountered online.
All of the treatment approaches I use are fully safe and effective when done virtually, including behavioural interventions like Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Using the same counselling principles that guide in-person work—including empathy, active listening, goal setting, and evidence-based therapies—I will make adjustments as needed to accommodate a virtual setting.
All you need is a private space, a charged device with a camera and microphone (like a laptop, phone, or tablet), and a secure internet connection. Bookings and payments are managed via Jane, which makes every step straightforward and easy.
You are not alone, and teletherapy can be a supportive element in your life that leads to positive change and growth. In the safe space of online therapy through Link Counselling, you can explore your feelings, understand patterns, and develop the necessary tools to cope with stress. Step by step, you will gain control, build resilience, and improve your wellbeing. These small changes can make a meaningful difference—and you deserve the support you need to feel better.
Common Concerns About Online Counselling…
How can I be sure that virtual therapy will be as effective as in-person counselling?
It’s proven that online therapy is just as effective as in-person treatment for most concerns. Through this process, you still build a genuine, trusted connection with a therapist, even though you are meeting them in a virtual setting.
Moreover, because online therapy offers flexibility and the chance to see a therapist from the comfort of your own home, teletherapy can be an even better option for some clients.
Is online counselling private and confidential?
Your privacy is my top priority, and I conduct all sessions via an encrypted, PHIPA-compliant platform to keep your information and disclosures secure. That said, it’s important that you have a quiet, private space where you can speak freely. With these steps, your sessions can remain just as protected and confidential as in-person therapy.
Will online therapy sessions be covered by my insurance?
In Ontario, insurance providers cover teletherapy the same way they cover in-person sessions. Following each session, I will email you an invoice to submit for reimbursement.
Typically, this process is seamless, but it may be a good idea to contact your insurance company directly to confirm your coverage before getting started with counselling.
